Stone Foundations

Atlanta GA Stone Foundation Repair ContractorsStone foundations were standard construction in homes built in the early 1900s and before. Today, building construction has developed and advanced, and homes with stone foundations are often a source of frequent worry to owners of old homes and/or potential buyers. Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repairs has been helping homeowners for over 85 years secure their properties so that they are resting on a stable foundation. Anglin’s is the name to trust for the highest quality foundation repair in and around Atlanta.

Houses support a great deal of weight that must be supported for years and years in the future. Having an unqualified foundation structure can compromise the entire structure, not to mention produce sloping floors, cracked walls, and other damage. Repairing a home’s foundation requires the knowledge and expertise of the experts. At Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repair, our contractors professionally inspect the property to determine the most suitable repair methods.

Homes built upon stone foundations require specific correction in order for the home to remain standing and for it to be a quality dwelling place for a family. The most common damage to a home built on a stone foundation is that the mortar that was used to hold the stones in place has begun to flake away and compromise its strength. As the mortar continues to erode, the remaining substance between the stones begins to fall out and shift around.

Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repairs has the experience and know how to protect your property and reestablish its integrity. Our motto is that we will Fix it for Life, the First time. We understand that your property is a huge investment, and we do not take the responsibility for repairing it lightly. We have the solutions, expert experience, equipment, and proven value for you.

How’s Your Garage Holding Up?

Foundation Repair Specialists Marietta GAYou open your garage door, pull your vehicle inside, close the garage door, and think nothing of it until you need to open the door again. However, it is important that you take the time to regularly inspect the foundation of your garage to determine how it is holding up. Most garages are built upon concrete slab foundations, and are, therefore, inclined to crack and settle. Special attention should be given to the status of your garage’s foundation as it is attached to your home and any issue that your garage may have can translate to problems inside the home. If you notice any signs of foundational damage of your garage (i.e. cracks in the walls, cracks in the floor, uneven floors, separation from the garage trim from the exterior of your home, or stair-step cracks in the exterior brick surrounding your garage door opening) it is time to call in the experts at Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repair.

Georgia is known for its infamous “Georgia Red Clay” and how it is not the ideal soil for most things. This includes offering structural support to a slab foundation. A slab foundation relies on the soil beneath it to offer support and to absorb tension as the moisture content will fluctuate again and again. Many times homeowners find that the reason behind their garage foundation issues is due to incompetency on the builder’s part to ensure that the quality of the soil is optimal for building.

Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repair has been helping homeowners and commercial property owners for more than 85 years correct problems with their foundations. Our experts have built our impeccable reputation by fixing the problem and preventing future issues from arising. As John Anglin says, “We fix it for life, the first time.” Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repair is dedicated to helping you find the solution you need in order to save your property. Call us today.

Custom Foundation Support System

Atlanta GA Home Foundation Repair ContractorsA solid foundation is necessary to support any type of structure in order to bear loads that that are within or on the building. Both the footings and the foundation distribute the load that is put upon the bearing surface. These are designed to keep a building level and plumb and to keep settling to a minimum. Homes and buildings built in an area with loose soil will need to have soil bearing characteristics taken into consideration. At Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repairs, we have the knowledge and experience to build a custom foundation support system that is specific to the area where a home or commercial property is proposed to be located.

Not all soil is ideal for building on. Here in the Southeast, our soil can be extremely diverse within different areas of a single state. Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repairs has over 85 years of experience in building homes and commercial properties all over Georgia. You can click through our website and find examples of our custom foundation support systems. In fact, we have developed a foundation support system for a large log home that was built on a 100-year-old flood plain with very loose soil. We used our capability and know-how to develop proper footings and foundation slab that has held that home with the strongest support. After more than sixteen years, there have been no signs of settling – that is a huge accomplishment that we are proud to boast about.

If you are interested in building, please take as much time and consideration into the footings and foundation of your home as you do choosing a house plan. At Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repair, we offer a lifetime of structural and masonry experience that is backed by a lifetime warranty. Our number one goal is to get it right, the first time. Contact Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repair today and let us know what we can do for you.

Who are you going to call? Anglin’s

oldhouseA bit too late for that.

We thought we could fix anything but a broken heart (which we are working on) but we were wrong! Some things even we cannot repair.

My wife and I were traveling in our RV on the East Coast of Maine near Bar Harbor, when we sighted this interesting old house. We turned our RV around and stopped. I got out my Nikon digital camera and shot some photos and videos. ‘What a waste,’ I thought.

Old houses are almost as precious as “old dogs and children and watermelon wine.” They should not be neglected.

Thankfully, all is not lost. This old house still holds meaning, merit and value. Makers of unique, custom hand-crafted antique furniture love to take old houses like this – along with old barns, buildings and structures of any kind – and salvage the usable wood.

They salvage aged barn wood, siding, rafters, floor joists, wood beams, posts and other pieces of lumber. Then they clean and preserve the wood before handcrafting it into beautiful pieces of furniture.

One of these companies is Green Gables Furniture. My wife and I have purchased several of their custom hand-crafted furniture pieces. We love it!

Green Gables Furniture can take ‘disasters about to happen’ like the building pictured above and transform deterioration into fresh, new creations.

Anglin’s may not be able to compete with Mother Nature, but when given early warnings of structural problems or failures, we have solutions designed to work for almost any structure.

Don’t let your home deteriorate, we’re specialists at restoring buildings to safety and soundness.

Bowed Basement Walls

Atlanta GA Basement Wall Repair ContractorsUnstable soil is a home’s worst enemy. Expansive clay and improperly compacted fill can leave foundations unevenly supported, triggering settlement and cracking of the basement. One common problem associated with poor construction or soil pressure for load bearing basement walls is that they will bow inward or outward. Not only can this devalue a home, but it can also be a safety concern for all family members or guests of the home. At Anglin’s Foundation and Masonry Repairs, we have been providing experienced professional basement wall repairs and foundation repairs in Atlanta since 1930. Our name has become synonymous with correcting all foundation issues, and we bring a lifetime of structural and masonry experience to every job, guaranteed.

When basements begin to show signs of foundational issues, the entire home is very close to having major structural problems. It is important to have any issue with your basement addressed immediately to avoid cracks and damage in the interior wood framing of your house or damage to the exterior brick, stone, or siding. The longer foundational issues exist, the more costly the repairs will become because they will continue to expand and affect multiple areas. Failure to correct these issues can threaten the entire structural integrity of your home. Fortunately, it is possible to rescue settled foundations and basement walls, and Anglin’s Foundation and Masonry Repairs is the name to trust. We can handle any type of basement foundation repair, and we have been doing so for over 85 years.

If you have noticed any signs of settling in your basement, please contact Anglin’s Foundation and Masonry Repair today. We offer free inspections, and we guarantee to fix your foundation problems for life. Your home is your largest investment, and we are here to help you protect your investment for years and years to come.

Stabilizing Foundations with Resistance Piers

Marietta GA Foundation Repair ContractorsSettlement issues in the foundation of a home or commercial property must be dealt with in a timely, effective, and safe manner. Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repairs has been serving home owners and business owners in Atlanta since 1930 as a full service foundation repair contractor. We have the knowledge, expertise, and experience needed to stabilize your foundation right, the first time. We use only the highest quality materials, and we use methods that have proven successful for repairing foundations. We do not take shortcuts because your home, your business, and all who enter through your doors are much too important. You can put your trust in the experts from Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repairs to ensure that your home or commercial structure rests on a solid foundation that will last for many years to come.

Resistance piers (also called push piers or hydraulically driven piers) utilize high strength steel tube sections and a load transfer bracket to stabilize and/or lift sinking or settling foundations. At Anglin’s we developed our own proprietary system to connect the bracket to the foundation without drilling into the concrete foundation. Drilling into the concrete can cause further damage and compromise the foundation by adding cracks to the foundation. Our method prevents any damage to the footing or foundation, and our company – which has been around for 85 years, guarantees it.

Many times home owners and business owners do not know that they have a foundation settlement issue because there are no visible signs, and when there are visible signs that could mean a very lengthy and expensive repair. If you would like to schedule a free inspection and quote for your home or commercial structure, please contact Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repairs today. We are the expert foundation repair services in Atlanta, and we are here to faithfully serve you.

We Fix It For LIFE!

Marietta GA Chimney Repair Company

At Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repairs our motto is, “We fix it for life the first time.” These days it is hard to find a guarantee on most things. Whether it’s your expensive cell phone, car repair, or a brand new pair of shoes – most things just aren’t guaranteed like they used to be. Well, that is not the case at Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repairs here in Atlanta. For the last 85 years we have guaranteed the service and work that we provide our customers, and we have no intention of taking that guarantee away. Our reputation rests upon the quality of work that we provide, and we refuse to provide anything less than the very best.

Here at Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repairs we offer a wide variety of services to customers in the greater Atlanta area. We repair leaning and falling chimneys, cracked basement walls, compromised foundations, front steps that are separating from the home, back porches and decks that are not stable, falling retaining walls, and many more residential and commercial issues. With our years of experience we know that plumb, straight, and level are the essential necessities for all structures. It is unfortunate, but many builders do not take the time to thoroughly stabilize the foundation of a home or its surrounding structures. That, on top of the temperamental soil of the south, is a dangerous combination that can compromise the integrity of an entire home.

John L. Anglin puts his name on the line each and every time his company makes a repair. He is never satisfied with a halfway job because that does not fit in with the promise of his company. We are sorry that you have structural foundation problems, but Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repairs has the solution. Our focus is on providing our customers with the best permanent services. At Anglin’s, we fix it for life the first time. Call us today.

Front Porch Settling Repair

Sinking Steps Reapir Contractors in Atlanta GeorgiaThe front porch is supposed to be an inviting space where guests feel welcomed into your home. However, a front porch that is settling may seem like an unsafe area that is anything but attractive and welcoming. Just like a home’s foundation, front porches and stairs are susceptible to settling over time. This is typical when the soil on which they are built is disturbed from weather or construction. While there are DIY videos on YouTube that claim to offer advice and a video tutorial on how to fix a front porch that has settled, it is best left to the experts. At Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repair, we are here to help homeowners and commercial property owners correct damage done by settling.

As with any type of foundational issue, if your front porch is sinking or pulling away from your home it is imperative that you have it repaired as soon as possible. For one, steps that pull away from the front porch are unsightly and will significantly lower the value of your home. Secondly, the liabilities associated with foundational issues of the home are typically on the homeowner. Therefore, if someone is injured due to the instability or unevenness of the front porch, an unfortunate turn of events may occur. The most common cause of front porch settling is poorly compacted soil during the building stage of your home or property. As time goes by, soil will compact itself due to rain and other outdoor forces. If this unprepared for settlement occurs, the porch it self will begin to fall.

Having a beautiful home starts from the outside. An attractive and fully functional front porch is great for the value of your home and invites others inside. If your front porch is settling and is in need of repair, please call Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repair today. We have been in business since 1930, and we have built our company with integrity from day one. We have been repairing homes for decades, and we have the solution to your problems.

Bay Window Repair

Bay Window Repair Contractors Atlanta GABay windows are often a focal point in a home. They offer a great deal of natural light in any room, and customized bay windows often have window seats to make them cozy places for reading or watching nature. However, because these windows are very large, they are often extremely susceptible to settling or structural problems. At Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repairs in Atlanta, Georgia, we have been helping home owners since 1930 by repairing bay window structures, sagging window frames, and windows that have become jammed due to structural problems or settling. We are committed to providing our customers with the highest quality bay window repair that is done correctly the first time.

Structural problems in a home can cause many issues. One of the signs that structural damage has occurred in a home is that windows are “impossible” to open or close. This problem is generally caused by sagging walls and/or settling foundations. While some settling is normal for any large structure, settling that causes apparent damage to a home indicates that erosion or other issues exist around or within the home. Bay windows are incredibly heavy, and without the necessary support to hold the weight of the window in place, an enormous amount of damage can occur.

Let the experts at Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repairs take care of your bay window repair. We have helped hundreds of Atlanta residents resolve window problems by correcting settling problems. Our experienced contractors have the experience and expertise to correct foundation settling problems and/or install the necessary framing support for a heavy bay window. Choose Anglin’s to ensure that your window repair is done right.

But the Inspector Says Those Cracks are Normal

Atlanta Home Foundation RepairWe hear it over and over again, customers meeting with our team of experts who tell us, “Well, our inspector says that those cracks in the brick are normal and just to watch them.” And our response will be, “You can repair them, or you can watch them do serious damage to your home.”

At Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repair, we have been in business for 85 years for a reason: we do not take shortcuts. Everyone on our team is an expert in foundations and masonry, and we know that when outside walls of a home begin to crack time is of the essence. Home foundations in the South are very susceptible to problems with settling. Take the winter we are in right now in 2015 – we go from days in the mid to upper 60s followed by days in the mid to upper 20s. This drastic temperature change that can occur within the same week allows soil to expand and contract considerably in a very short amount of time. Dynamic soil movements can cause unacceptable home foundation problems, especially when homes have any type of structural foundation design problems. Track builders tend to throw houses up at an incredibly fast rate here in the Atlanta area. This short time span does not allow always for proper curing of the foundation walls in conjunction with the expansion and constricting of the soil.

If you see any cracks in the outside walls of your home, please call Anglin’s Foundation & Masonry Repairs today. Sure, there’s a chance that your inspector is right and those cracks are normal. However, the majority of the time that is not the case. We offer free quotes to our customers and we guarantee everything that we do. We are not focused on how much work we will be doing at your home in order to make money. Our focus is on providing you with the best services with permanent solutions at the very best value. Those cracks in your brick signify something. Let the experts in foundations and masonry make the call.
