Why is the structure moving?
Almost every sinking stoop we look at comes down to what it was built on. On a house with a basement or crawl space, the steps sit on dirt pushed back against those walls. Rain runs along the house into that loose fill and washes out a void beside the steps, sometimes five feet back and two feet deep. The footing itself can be the problem, poured too thin for the weight above it, or changed after the county inspector left.
How is the repair completed?
Every set of steps is different, so the repair starts with a close look at what moved. We look at the steps, the gap at the house and the ground beside them. Sometimes the steps sink while the stoop stays put on a wing wall, and that changes the repair. If the brick and slab are too undermined to lift, we tell you.
